Scientific Games has penned another deal with a major European lottery operator as it continues an international push beyond its US heartland.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, Scientific Games is partnered with many US state lotteries, but also maintains deals with European and Latin American companies such as the lotteries of Latvia and Uruguay.

This week the company announced that it had partnered with the Hellenic Lotteries, the National Lottery operator of Greece – operated by the local division of multinational lottery company Allwyn International, Allwyn Hellas.

“At Allwyn Hellas and Hellenic Lotteries, we put players at the center of everything we do, emphasizing their entertainment experience,” said Matthaios Mattaiou, Chief Sales and Marketing PLAY Stores/HL and Operations Officer at Allwyn Hellas.

“Therefore, we’re delighted to collaborate with Scientific Games as our instant game provider to deliver exciting scratchcard games to players in Greece. Beginning with new games launched in May, we look forward to engaging players with fresh propositions.”

The group has become scratchcard supplier for the Hellenic Lotteries. It has been commissioned to develop 14 new scratchcard games from May 2026 onwards.

The scratchcards will be developed at Scientific Games’ European Centre of Game Production Excellence in the UK.

There is also a caveat for the company to offer digital lottery products in the future, if the Hellenic Lotteries so wishes.

The deal follows the Hellenic Lotteries being awarded an exclusive right to operate and manage lotteries and scratchcards on behalf of the Greek government for a further 12 years.

The company was previously operated by OPAP, which was majority owned by the same firm behind Allwyn, Czech investment firm KKCG.

Allwyn and OPAP merged late last year, cementing Allwyn’s status as the world’s most valuable publicly listed lottery company, with a listing on the Athens Stock Exchange.

Matthias Müller, Senior Vice President of International Sales for Scientific Games, said: “Our instant game innovators will continue to apply Scientific Games’ 53 years of analytics and game design best practices working to provide a portfolio of innovative scratchcards that drives responsible growth in Greece.”
