Brightstar Global Solutions Corporation, a subsidiary of industry giant Brightstar Lottery PLC, has signed a two-year contract extension with the New York State Gaming Commission.
The move means that the group will continue to provide lottery technology and services for the New York Lottery, which is the largest and most profitable of its kind in North America.
It continues a partnership which has now spanned five decades, having begun back in 1986 under Brightstar’s legacy name, GTECH.
The New York Lottery contributed $3.6bn in Lottery Aid to Education for FY 2025/26 to help support education in New York State. In fiscal year 2024, it sold just shy of $9bn worth of lottery tickets.
“Brightstar is dedicated to continue fulfilling our contractual obligations through this two-year contract extension and supporting the New York Lottery’s successful track record serving New York public schools,” said Scott Gunn, Brightstar Chief Operating Officer, North America Lottery.
Brightstar continues deal making spree
For Brightstar, it continues a 2026 in which it has signed a plethora of deals, despite its shares going through a tricky time on the New York Stock Exchange.
The London-based firm has seen its stock fall by 38% so far this year but its market cap still remains at over $1.7bn, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down on the deal-making front.
Last week, it partnered with Pan American World Airways LLC to develop and distribute omni-channel lottery tickets themed around the airline brand.
During the summer, the business penned a seven-year extension to its contract with Washington’s Lottery, prolonging the agreement until at least 2036.
This wide range of deals that the company has signed, however, has contributed to it reporting net debt of $3.8bn.
However, things seem to be improving slightly on that front, with the firm set to repay €342m of existing debt due in 2028, using fresh borrowing to extend its repayment timetable.
