Brightstar Lottery has been recognised with an environmental, sustainability and governance (ESG) rating as it presses ahead with its post-rebrand strategy.

In the midst of executing its long-term strategy, the firm has secured the highest MSCI ESG rating, AAA. Brightstar secured ‘a perfect score’ for carbon emissions and high scores for product safety and quality.

The triple A ranking categorises Brightstar as a ‘leader’ in MSCI ESG ratings. This may prove useful from an investment standpoint for NYSE-listed Brightstar, with ESG standards rated highly by many modern investors.

“Receiving the MSCI AAA ESG rating in Brightstar’s first year as a pure-play lottery company highlights our commitment to making sustainability practices a priority throughout our business,” said Wendy Montgomery, Brightstar SVP of Branding, Communications and Sustainability.

“This rating from MSCI serves as motivation to continue our work building a sustainable future where our people, our partners, and our planet can thrive.”

The MSCI ranking comes just under two months after Brightstar received its first S&P Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) score. Similar to the MSCI ranking, the score is an accreditation of its sustainability.

Brightstar came into being in June last year following the divestment of Interactive Game Technology’s (IGT) gaming division to Apollo Global Management. The remaining lottery division subsequently rebranded as Brightstar Lottery.

This is its second year of operations under the Brightstar identity, a year which will mark its first full 12 months of operating under its new corporate moniker after closing 2025 with $2.51bn (£1.86bn) in revenue.

Since the rebrand, the firm has been active in securing contracts with clients from its days as IGT, as well as new ones. Notable partners signed last year included Western Australia’s LotteryWest, the Texas Lottery, and the Italian lottery – the latter as part of a consortium.
