Intralot renews tech duties with MDJS Morocco

Intralot SPA has secured a major commercial objective, announcing that La Marocaine Des Jeux et des Sports (MDJS) will extend its technology contract for a further two years.

MDJS serves as Morocco’s exclusive operator of lottery, instant-win, and sportsbook services as appointed by the Dahir (Kingdom’s decree).

Intralot has operated as MDJS’s principal technology supplier since the company was formed in 2010. The new terms will see the Intralot and MDJS contract expire on 31 December 2025.

As announced: “Intralot Maroc will continue to operate MDJS’s popular lottery games Tifo and Chrono, which will be distributed through an optimized network of points of sale, using the existing technology infrastructures and according to the highest international standards.

“Intralot has been present in the gaming market of Morocco since 2010 and is proud to continue its presence in the country.”

The MDJS contract forms part of Intralot’s Managed Services (B2B & B2G) division, which recorded a Q3 2023 income of €17m, operating across the key markets of Morocco and Turkey.

Growth in B2B services helps offset a €44m downturn in Intralot’s lottery business, impacted by the termination of its Malta Lottery operations (B2C).

Intralot closed 2023 trading by completing a successful bond raise of €135m, resulting in new group equity of €49m and a net leverage ratio of 2.4x. Gross debt stands at €454m after repayment of €126m.
