Brightstar Lottery is continuing to cement its foothold in the highly competitive American lottery sector, extending its deal with the Oregon Lottery.

The deal comes as Brightstar Lottery focuses on expanding its reach across the Americas, Europe and Africa following its rebrand from IGT last year.

Penned between its subsidiary Brightstar Global Solutions Corporation and the Oregon Lottery, the deal will last until 23 May 2031 and will focus on retail technology.

Terms will see Brightstar upgrade the state lottery’s central system with new components and retail equipment, including 2,200 SignalLink units, its point-of-sale digital solution.

The company will also provide the Oregon Lottery with its 1,000 Retail Pro S2 terminals, a processor supporting rapid transaction processing, multiple customer displays, and a range of peripherals.

“The Oregon Lottery’s trusted partnership with Brightstar has strengthened over the last 40-plus years as lottery technology has continued to evolve,” said Mike Wells, Oregon Lottery Director.

“Through this extension with Brightstar and the deployment of upgraded central system features and modern hardware, we are advancing a more intelligent, responsive ecosystem that supports our retailers, engages players, and drives sustainable returns for Oregon.”

Brightstar Lottery came into being last year following the divestment of IGT’s Gaming and Digital division to Apollo Global Management.

The remaining lottery-focused divisions of IGT, which have been partnered with various government lotteries for over three decades, decided to take on the new moniker of Brightsar to reflect its new, sole focus.

Since then the firm has struck deals or renewed existing ones with a number of government lotteries across Europe, the US and Australia, and recently promoted its Chief Operations Officer for International and Italy Operations, Marco Tasso, to the role of Chief Operations Officer of its Global Lottery division.

“Brightstar’s contract extension with the Oregon Lottery reflects our shared commitment to innovation and delivering long-term value for Oregonians,” said Scott Gunn, Brightstar Chief Operating Officer, North America Lottery.

“We value our longstanding relationship with the state of Oregon and respect our obligation to create meaningful benefits for the Lottery, its retailers, and players.”
