IGT Plc has secured a new three-year contract extension with the Virginia Lottery, continuing its technology support role until at least October 2033.
The extension, which includes the option for an additional three one-year extensions, strengthens a partnership with the Virginia Lottery that began in 2000.
Under the extended agreement, IGT will implement its most advanced version of Aurora, part of the Omnia lottery suite, to enhance the Virginia Lottery’s central retail system.
The upgrade will involve replacing 5,500 retailer terminals with the new Retailer Pro S2 and updating the communications network to a cellular model, aiming for an operational date in October 2025.
“The Virginia Lottery has evolved significantly since our partnership with IGT began over two decades ago, driving sales growth and modernising our lottery,” said Tony R. Russell, Interim Director of the Virginia Lottery.
“We are excited about the upcoming system and point-of-sale technological advancements from IGT that support our goal of funding Virginia’s K-12 public education.”
IGT’s Global Lottery CEO, Jay Gendron, remarked, “Our longstanding relationship with the Virginia Lottery is a testament to IGT’s commitment to delivering top-tier lottery solutions. The forthcoming technology upgrades will enhance operational flexibility for the lottery and introduce a new progressive jackpot feature for print ‘n’ play games, enriching player engagement.”
