IGT partners Microgame to build up Italy foothold

International Game Technology (IGT) has followed up previous moves made this year in the Italian gaming sector by signing a partnership with Microgame.

The Italy-facing igaming provider will utilise products and services from London-based IGT’s PlayDigital division, providing content from its casino game library.

This builds on IGT’s existing strong standing in the Italian market, where it is a supplier of both igaming products, as well as instant lottery tickets and draw-based lottery games via its Lotterie Nazionali Srl holding.

Marco Castaldo, Microgame CEO, said: “IGT has a rich history of providing best-in-class content across a variety of gaming channels in Italy, and Microgame is excited to now offer our operators and their players IGT PlayDigital’s highly engaging casino games.

“The inclusion of PlayDigital’s iGaming content strengthens our overall portfolio and complements our solutions so that we can continue to grow within the Italian market.”

The agreement follows a deal signed between IGT and France’s Groupe FDJ back in June, which focused on delivery of IGT’s lottery games knowledge and products from Italy to the French market.

Meanwhile, the NYSE group’s financial results have shown that Italian activity has made a significant contribution to its operations of late, with the most notable development being the sale of its commercial business in the country in September 2022.

Gil Rotem, IGT President of igaming, added: “This partnership with Microgame enables IGT PlayDigital to amplify our casino portfolio on a broader scale and continue offering Italian players some of the most compelling digital games in the industry.

“The demand for igaming continues to grow at a rapid pace and with IGT PlayDigital’s experience and deep understanding of the Italian gaming market, we are uniquely positioned to support Microgame in its portfolio expansion opportunities.”
