French state-owned lottery, betting and gaming operator La Française des Jeux (FDJ) has partnered with Playtech, leveraging the firm’s iPoker network services and content.
The French operator will become a member of Playtech’s iPoker EU Network, gaining access to a liquidity pool backed by the FTSE supplier’s software and compliant with a range of regulatory regimes.
Playtech’s Poker services and content package include cash tables, poker tournaments and its flagship Twister Poker game. FDJ will take the products and features live in the French poker market, which grew by 7% in 2021 to €10.7m.
Richard Courtois, FDJ’s CEO of Sports Betting and Online Gaming Open to Competition, said: “Playtech has a great track record as a poker network and content provider in Europe’s regulated markets, and the company’s involvement in our selection process demonstrated a clear commitment and a deep understanding of our long-term strategy in France.
“Thanks to Playtech, we are pleased to offer our players a new range of games. This move enables FDJ to complete its presence in the French online gaming market open to competition, based on a business model that combines performance and responsibility to keep gaming fun.
FDJ becomes the latest lottery operator to up the ante on its igaming operations with Playtech, joining the likes of Sweden’s Svenska Spel and Italy’s Lottomatica as a client of the firm’s poker services.
Marat Koss, VP of Interactive Gaming at Playtech, commented: “We are very proud that FDJ has chosen Playtech as its partner. The addition of FDJ to our iPoker.EU is a vital step in the network’s expansion as the buoyancy of the French online gambling market continues, where we get to showcase our extensive product and technology range. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with FDJ.”
