Greek lottery solutions supplier Intralot has amended its contract with La Marocaine Des Jeux et des Sports (MDJS), Morocco’s state lottery, reducing its duration.

Signed in June 2019, the amendment will see Intralot and MDJS’ initial eight-year contract reduced significantly, now ending on December 31, 2022.

The lottery supplier noted that the alteration was designed to ‘enhance resilience in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic repercussions’ on the overall lottery market.

As well as lottery games, MDJS offers sports betting and other games of chance in Morocco. Intralot Maroc, its subsidiary, has been a partner of the lottery since 2010 and will continue to support it with the overall management and operation of its lottery, sports betting and other gaming activities.

Back in February, Intralot announced it had reached a binding agreement with Nexus Group in Peru to sell its entire 20% stake in Intralot de Peru SA, an associate of Intralot Group, for a cash consideration of $21m.

However, the lottery supplier also stated it has signed a three-year extension of its current contract with Intralot de Peru through 2024, to continue to provide its gaming technology and support services.
