Allwyn AG has chosen Athens, Greece, as the first iteration of its McLaren Racing partnership that will bring fans globally closer to Formula 1.
On 3 October, the Olympic Athletic Centre of Athens (OAKA) will host a showrun of the reigning Formula 1 World Constructors’ Champions, combining sporting history with the pinnacle of modern era motorsport.
Fans will be able to get close and personal with the winning car of the 2025 Constructors’ Championship, and see Ayrton Senna’s McLaren MP4/6 tear through OAKA.
Furthermore, Allwyn has also invited two-time World Champion Mika Häkkinen to get behind the wheel once again, reuniting with McLaren and re-living their championship days together.
Other former F1 drivers will also be present, together with a selection of modern and heritage show cars coupled with a dedicated entertainment fan zone.
Allwyn added that this will be the first of a new global series event that will bring motorsport fans closer to the action across Allwyn’s key markets, one of which happens to be the UK – home of the Silverstone Circuit.
Pavel Turek, Chief Officer Global Partnerships at Allwyn, said: “Launching this global event series in Athens is a major milestone for our partnership with McLaren Racing. At Allwyn, we are always looking to bring more – whether that’s more unforgettable moments or more fans closer to the sports and entertainment they love.
“Bringing more speed, thrills and excitement to this iconic sporting location is the perfect way to introduce our international event platform and entertain more fans around the world.”
Meanwhile, Jan Karas, Chairman and CEO at Allwyn Hellas, added that he expects ‘thousands’ to visit OAKA in October, which would in turn make the Allwyn x McLaren Racing event one of the largest motorsport fan experiences in Greece.
On the idea behind the event and why does it matter to McLaren Racing, Lousie McEwen, Chief Marketing Officer, added: “Our fans are at the heart of everything we do at McLaren Racing, and while not everyone can experience a Grand Prix weekend in person, we’re always looking for ways to bring the team closer to them.”
