Abacus Solutions International and Nederlandse Loterij have confirmed the expansion of its retail presence, linking with the pharmacy and drug store Kruidvat to provide a self-checkout lottery ticket solution.

Growing the availability of lottery tickets in physical locations, Abacus will integrate its R10 NCR platform into Kruidvat’s self-checkout machines, allowing for quicker purchases of Nederlandse Loterij tickets.

Following the growing popularity of self-service checkouts, Abacus has over 5000 self-service lanes enabled via its platform.

The Kruidvat agreement will pilot with its platform deployment across three keys stores and nine self-checkout units, and once finalised, will be rolled across its entire estate of over 900 units.

“We are excited to extend our integration into Kruidvat to enable their new self-checkout tills to sell lottery tickets.”, said Simon Butler, CEO, Abacus. “The Abacus in-lane program with Nederlandse Loterij is expanding with new and exciting services being added through 2022 and into 2023.

“This ability to embrace the trend in retail to move to self-checkout demonstrates Abacus’ ability to move with the market demands.”

To ensure legal compliance, Kruidvat has tagged each lottery product as an ‘age validated 18+’ so that age verification checks can be flagged with a member of staff.
