British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has been recognised as a ‘5-Star Diversity & Inclusion Employer’ by HR Director Canada for its efforts in creating an ‘authentic’ inclusive environment.

The lottery corporation was singled out this week for creating an ‘inclusive culture’ in the workplace due to policies implemented in recent times, as well as investing in its staff and structures.

BCLC was the only Canadian organisation with 200-2499 employees to earn recognition from the HR firm.

“As a social-purpose company, we work to generate win-wins for the greater good and fostering a more inclusive culture is an important part of how we do that for our people,” commented Sandy Austin, Interim Chief People Officer, BCLC.

“We are proud of what we have accomplished but acknowledge there is still progress to be made on our journey towards diversity, inclusion and belonging for all.”

BCLC has also earned other forms of recognition for its role in diversity and inclusion amongst its staff, picking up the title of Leading Diversity and Inclusion Employer by the Canadian HR Reporter last month. It also achieved recognition for its inaugural social purpose report.

The lottery implemented its diversity and inclusion policies in 2021 to support its core values – ‘respect, integrity and community’ – and has adopted a stance towards equity inclusion and anti-racism.
