Texas Lottery sales exceed $8bn for first time in FY2021

The Texas Lottery achieved $8.107bn in sales for the fiscal year 2021, a new record for the lottery, which resulted in a record total contribution of $1.998bn for Texas education and veterans.

The new milestone, a $1.403bn increase (20.9%) over FY2020, was driven by the highest scratch ticket and draw game sales’ totals in the Lone Star State lottery’s nearly 30-year history.

NeoGames launches offering of public shares

NeoGames announced the commencement of an underwritten public offering of almost 3.5m ordinary shares by certain shareholders.

The shareholders involved in the issue of shares intend to grant underwriters a 30-day period to purchase an additional 500,000 shares at a discounted underwritten rate.

Scientific Games sells lottery business to Brookfield Business Partners in $6bn deal

Scientific Games formally announced the sale of its lottery division to Brookfield Business Partners after weeks of speculation in a deal that could reach over $6bn. 

SG said that the sale was necessary to realise its strategic vision and singular focus to be the ‘leading cross-platform global gaming company’. 

Addressing its shareholders, the company noted that the sale will provide an opportunity to ‘unlock’ its shareholder’s value whilst also streamlining its operations. 

Breaking down the deal structure, Brookfield Business Partners will pay $5.825bn in cash upfront as well as a further $225m in earn-out based on several performance metrics including EBITDA in FY2022 and FY2023.

UKGC issues Fourth National Lottery license competition update as final applications submitted

The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) confirmed that the final applications for the Fourth National Lottery license competition were submitted and were ready for review. 

UKGC said it received four full applications, the largest number since the first competition began in 1994.
