Scientific Games has launched in the newly regulated Netherlands online market in association with the Netherlands Lottery (NLO), the Dutch provider of games of chance and sports betting.

Utilising SG’s OpenGaming platform, as well as its OpenBet sports technology and content, the partnership is aiming to take advantage of the opening of the Dutch market, which is widely expected to be one of the fastest-growing markets in Europe.

SG successfully optimised its sports betting and iGaming technology to meet the requirements of the newly-regulated European market, which officially opened October 1.

Under the provisions of the agreement upon the launch, NLO will be equipped with the full OpenBet product suite, including the scalable betting engine as well as the servers to host pre-match and in-play betting services.

TOTO, the new online sportsbook and casino brand from Nederlandse Loterij, has leveraged the OpenGaming content aggregation platform that consists of in-house developed games and popular releases from a range of third-party providers.

Andy Stubley, VP Commercial of iGaming at Scientific Games, commented: “It’s fantastic to see our content aggregation platform and wide variety of games go live in the newly-regulated online Dutch market.

“We have high expectations that OpenGaming will perform well in this key European region and look forward to delivering entertaining iGaming experiences to players across the country.”

NLO was formed in 2016 after the merger of the Dutch State Lottery and De Lotto and currently performs with an annual turnover of $1.3bn. It is the largest gambling organisation in the Netherlands with a leading entertainment portfolio that includes: Staatsloterij, Lotto, Eurojackpot, Miljoenenspel, Lucky Day, Scratch Cards and TOTO.

Sam Depoortere, Business Director TOTO sportsbook and casino at Nederlandse Loterij, added: “This is a landmark moment in the history of Nederlandse Loterij and we are proud to have the OpenBet technology and content and the OpenGaming ecosystem power our newly-regulated sportsbook and igaming offering.

“We are excited to bring an improved player experience for the Dutch market and take our overall offering to the next level. Over the coming months and years, we are in a strong position to attract a wide audience thanks to our premium product portfolio of sports and gaming.”
