In common with many other European Lotteries (EL) activities and services, the EL Corporate University went virtual with its 2020 Executive Module recently.

For three mornings from October 28 to October 30, participants from eight EL member lotteries joined together to participate in a case study based learning experience developed uniquely for state lottery executives.

The virtual format involved breakout sessions where the participants were divided into groups to discuss case studies based on real-life lottery situations, as well as exploring specific areas of interest designed to provoke debate and discussion.

After each case group discussion, a spokesperson from each group presented their conclusions to all participants, which was followed by an open discussion led by the moderator.

To set up the first morning and lead into the case studies, the event began with the moderator interviewing EL President Hansjörg Höltkemeier and the President and CEO of the Slovenian Lottery Romana Dernovšek.

This was followed by questions from the participants as the two directors gave personal and professional reflections on a wide range of current lottery topics.

According to The European Lotteries the format of the event, in particular the participatory nature of the proceedings, led to some very active and heated discussions with excellent sharing of experiences and original ideas on games and facilities.

The ELCU Induction module will be organized again in the first quarter of 2021, also in a virtual setting.
