German lottery group ZEAL Network has appointed new management for its growing games division.

The firm revealed this morning (25 August) that York Scheunemann has been heading up its ZEAL Games business as Vice President – Games, since June 2026.

Scheunemann’s main tasks are to build and expand the company’s international partner ecosystem while continuing to develop its iGaming products.

ZEAL Network’s statement added that Scheunemann was chosen to help drive the wider business’ strategic growth and further strengthen it for the long-term.

His appointment came amid the continuing growth of the ZEAL Games business, with revenue for the segment rising 14% to €3.9m during Q2 2026.

“ZEAL has built a highly successful Games business in a very short period of time, establishing it as an important growth driver for the company”, said Scheunemann.

“I look forward to building on this success together with the team by further developing our offering strategically, unlocking new growth opportunities and expanding the ecosystem around ZEAL Games alongside our international partners.”

Prior to joining ZEAL, Scheunemann built up experience of corporate leadership, digital marketing, ecosystem growth and business development at big tech giant Google.

He worked at Google for 12 years, leaving in 2022 in the role of EMEA Business Lead for Customer Programmes.

After leaving Google, he was Managing Director of his own advisory company and would later join the board of hospitality services consultancy firm EHL.

He joins ZEAL as the company presses ahead with continuing to consolidate its presence in the German market, while also expanding into new markets like the UK.

“Our Games business is a key pillar of ZEAL’s growth strategy”, said ZEAL’s Chief Executive Officer, Stefan Tweraser.

“With York, we are bringing on board a leader with a proven track record of building and scaling digital business models over many years.

“His experience in international technology companies, combined with his strategic expertise as an advisor and board member, will help us further develop this important business area and unlock its full growth potential.”
