Brightstar Lottery has extended its contract with Washington’s Lottery for seven more years that would see the continuous rollout of new gaming systems and technology.

The current contract is set to expire in 2029, with the extension stretching it further until 2036. This would mean that Brightstar will become the primary lottery technology supplier for a remarkable 40 years in a row, with their initial partnership brokered back in 1996.

During the span of the extended contract, Brightstar has prepared a number of key deliverable targets to modernise the Washington’s Lottery, including:

  • Rollout of 2,200 GameTouch28 vending machines with 42-inch multimedia touch displays, designed to process high-volume ticket purchases and reduce point-of-sale congestion;
  • Rollout of 100 GameTouch20 vending machines, which carry a more streamlined and compact form;
  • 3,700 Retailer Pro S2 lottery terminals, Brightstar’s next-generation lottery terminals to meet modern customer demands;
  • Upgrading the Washington’s Lottery central system with Brightstar’s newest gaming system.

Brian Bennett, Washington’s Lottery Director, commented: “For 30 years, Brightstar has helped Washington’s Lottery stay at the forefront of providing lottery retailers and players with convenient and innovative lottery experiences, including self-service and cashless solutions

“We look forward to continuing our long-term partnership through the deployment of Brightstar’s latest lottery technology over the next 10 years.”

Scott Gunn, Brightstar Chief Operating Officer North America Lottery, added: “Brightstar is proud to continue our three-decade partnership with Washington’s Lottery

“The innovative system solutions and retail equipment we’ll deliver to Washington’s Lottery under this agreement will power the Lottery’s growth, provide entertaining and responsible experiences for its players, and support the funds raised by the Lottery for educational and other good causes across Washington.”
