Brightstar Lottery has embarked on a five-year exclusive licensing journey to produce Rubik’s-themed lottery games.

The globally well-known Rubik’s Cube was first introduced to the market in 1974, only to go on and become a puzzle recognised for the development of cognitive abilities and problem-solving skills across multiple generations.

Although Brightstar’s partnership with Spin Master Toys – a children’s toys brand and owner of Rubik’s – might raise some eyebrows at first, the Rubik’s-branded omnichannel instant ticket and iLottery games that will be created as a result of the partnership will of course only be marketed to adults.

Shedding more light on the five-year collaboration, Matthew Whalen, SVP ofGlobal Instant Ticket Services at Brightstar, said: “The Rubik’s Cube is one of the most iconic symbols of pop culture and Brightstar is thrilled to extend its timeless legacy into compelling, next-generation experiences for lottery players to enjoy.

“We look forward to producing exciting omnichannel games featuring Rubik’s Cube, which will include innovations such as our revolutionary Infinity Instants technology, creating an infinite number of possibilities to customise each ticket.”

Up, up, and away

Brightstar’s portfolio of high-value partnerships has been rapidly expanding throughout the year, with just last month seeing multiple major deals being struck by the lottery games provider.

Mid through November, Brightstar managed to secure a technology supplier contract with the Texas Lottery and the regulator standing above it – the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

The deals continued further into the month, resulting with Brightstar signing a major deal with SAZKA – a lottery provider owned by Allwyn, an international gambling conglomerate and current operator of the UK National Lottery.

While we’re at it, a four-company consortium of which Allwyn and Brightstar are a part of secured a nine-year deal to operate the ItalyLotto, one of Europe and the world’s biggest fixed numbers games.

And last but not least, Brightstar’s ambitions to expand further into Asia were recently significantly strengthened through an agreement with the Pan Malaysian Pools for the supply of Brightstar’s proprietary retail terminals.
