The Swedish Postcode Lottery (Svenska Postkodlotteriet) is modernising its B2C payments infrastructure through a partnership with Trustly.
One of Europe’s fintech darlings, Trustly offers secure Pay-by-Bank online transfers, which Postkodlotteriet will now integrate for quick and fully automated Direct Debit payments.
Mikael Glimbråten, Product Owner Payments, Svenska Postkodlotteriet, commented: “We are pleased with the successful collaboration with Trustly in connection with the implementation of Trustly Merchant Direct Debit.
“Direct Debit has quickly become the most popular payment method online. With an impressive success rate, Direct Debit has proven to be a reliable and efficient solution for our customers.
“We are also happy to announce that more features are on the way, which will make it even easier for customers to register their mandates. We look forward to continued successful and long-term cooperation with Trustly.”
A shift in the lottery’s customer preferences is already being witnessed, with Trustly processing the lion’s share (60%) of current checkouts. The customer journey’s accessibility and utility is expected to be updated with new feature rollouts later this year.
Johan Tjärnberg, Group CEO at Trustly, added: “We are thrilled to partner with The Swedish Postcode Lottery to enhance the user experience for lottery participants across Sweden.
“Our mission has always been to make online transactions as seamless, safe, and fast as possible, and this collaboration takes us one step closer to that goal.”
Trustly is an established player in the lottery sector, having secured some hard hitting partnerships in the past, such as payments supply deals with the neighbouring Dutch lottery. Outside of lotteries, the firm has arrangements with the likes of ITV and HM Revenue and Customs in the UK.
Fintech and payments news outlet Payment Expert has followed Trustly’s expansion not once or twice, including its market ambitions in Sweden, where official statistics show that 98% of the population now uses card alternatives.
