The United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS) has partnered with Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) to reinforce the protection of integrity in France’s top football competitions.
Aiming to uphold the principles of transparency and ethical conduct in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 divisions, the collaboration will see the two organisations exchange information to prevent and combat manipulation threats.
Gilles Maillet, ULIS President, said: “This partnership reinforces the collective efforts of ULIS and the LFP to ensure that Ligue 1 McDonald’s and Ligue 2 BKT remain synonymous with fair play and ethical excellence.”
ULIS will conduct pre-season integrity assessments of clubs and other stakeholders as part of its operational role in the partnership in a bid to strengthen the foundations of French football.
“It represents an extra instrument to protect the integrity of French football,” Maillet continued. “ULIS has always been committed to ensure the integrity of French sports and we will continue to do so now with the additional support of the LFP.”
The LFP continues to highlight its commitment to creating an environment in which professional football clubs can operate effectively and fairly, ensuring that regulations set by the French Football Federation.
In further moves to keep football a safe space, over the past couple of weeks ULIS has been delivering Train-the-Trainers sessions and player workshops for women and youth footballers in Estonia, Georgia and Romania.
Held at the national football federations in each country, the training focused on raising the awareness of the risks and consequences of competition manipulation, such as match-fixing and other unethical practices, as well as the potential dangers the misuse of betting behaviour can pose to the credibility of football and sports more generally.
