GambleAware has appointed Nicola Jaques as the new Chair of its Lived Experience Council (LEC).
The gambling harm charity highlighted that the LEC plays an essential role in shaping and overseeing its plans. The council includes a diverse group of individuals whose lives have been directly affected by gambling harm, including those close to them.
Jaques stated: “I’m honored to lead GambleAware’s Lived Experience Council. I’m proud to contribute to the ongoing fight against gambling harm with GambleAware and grateful for the chance to help shape the charity’s plans that have positively impacted families like mine.”
GambleAware also emphasized that the LEC strengthens its commitment to ensure its work remains collaborative and well-positioned to support the communities that need it most.
Robert Parker has also joined the LEC as the first member from Wales. He wants to share his personal experiences with gambling harm to inspire others.
“I’m excited to join GambleAware’s Lived Experience Council to help increase awareness of gambling harms among professionals and decision-makers in Wales,” Parker said.
“I want to spotlight the excellent work of the GambleAware-commissioned National Gambling Support Network and advocate for the efforts of GambleAware and regional treatment providers.”
