Swedish state-owned gambling operator Svenska Spel has introduced a strategic restructuring to its management team.

The company announced that current IT Director Mikael Franzén will become the lead of the newly-formed business department Gaming Responsibility & Data-Driven Transformation. His old role will be given to Lovisa Ekman, who transitions from Head of Corporate IT. The changes are expected to come into effect on 1 April.

Both Franzén and Ekman are experienced Svenska Spel veterans, with Franzén holding the IT Director position since 2019, and Ekman being with the company since 2018.

Svenska Spel itself has been taking steps to ‘future-proof’ its business by implementing an internal review of the organisation, its working methods and costs in order to identify room for additional growth.

The establishment of the Gaming Responsibility & Data-Driven Transformation is part of this review, and so are the two new changes to the group’s management team that are poised to strengthen Svenska Spel’s gambling responsibility duties, its ability to make data-driven decisions, and continue to invest in IT technology.

Erik Strand, President and CEO of Svenska Spel, said: “I am very happy to welcome Mikael Franzén and Lovisa Ekman in their new roles. They are responsible for important areas in our work to ensure that Svenska Spel enters the future as a continued strong and competitive group.

“Mikael and Lovisa are also experienced leaders who are appreciated by both employees and group management.”
