UK gambling stakeholders have been notified that the consultation on proposed changes on ‘Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice’ will be closed Tuesday 23 May.
Launched on 28 February, the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) sought feedback and guidance on the proposal to expand GAMSTOP’s self-exclusion scheme across all gambling licences.
The potential extension of GAMSTOP across all gambling categories (online and land-based) will require the Commission to update the “Social Responsibility Code on Remote multi-operator self-exclusion duties”.
The second phase of the consultation relates to whether licensees should be required to inform the Commission “when they become aware that a customer who has gambled with them has died by suicide”.
Guidance is required as to whether the Commission should adopt “suicide disclosure” as a new requirement of operator LCCP duties as a ‘reportable event’.
The consultation’s final proposal relates to technical requirements needed to update and better define UK Gambling’s licence conditions for Payment Services Regulations (PSR) – standards which are currently under review by relevant authorities.
Stakeholders are reminded that guidance submitted to the consultation will be treated separately to the Gambling Review and its proposed reforms.
In March, ahead of the publishing of the Gambling Review’s White Paper recommendations, DCMS Secretary of State, Lucy Frazer cited that gambling suicides must be accounted for in how UK Gambling is reformed.
