Sisal has been awarded a contract for the management of gaming in Tunisia by Promosport, the sports betting administration.

The Italian gambling group – which was officially acquired by Flutter Entertainment in a deal worth £1.6bn in August – will develop and manage a ‘comprehensive product portfolio’ in Tunisia, consisting of lottery draws, instant lotteries, sports betting and online games.

The firm has been granted a 10-year licence to distribute these games across an extensive network of points of sale and online in Tunisia.

“Winning the tender in Tunisia is a significant achievement for Sisal,” said Marco Caccavale, Sisal International Managing Director, in a statement on the Flutter website.

“Not only does it showcase our lottery expertise and leadership at a local and international level, it demonstrates execution against our strategic ambition to enter into regions which have considerable growth opportunities and development prospects in the future.”

Hailed as an ‘important milestone’, the move marks another step in its ‘internationalisation strategy’ which has seen the organisation enter other Mediterranean markets in recent years, such as Morocco in 2019.

This development subsequently led to a deal with Scientific Games in 2020, where the group agreed to supply and deploy lottery instant games, e-instant digital games, and WAVE lottery retailer terminals to Sisal in Morocco.

Sisal has also made important progress in Spain (2019) and Turkey (2020).
