Instant Win Gaming has partnered with video game publisher Capcom to produce Street Fighter II-themed instant game for the Virginia Lottery

The project idea based on the hit game comes as the digital gaming provider aims to take advantage of ‘one of the most well-known gaming franchises of all time’.

Rhydian Fisher, CEO at IWG, noted: “When the team at the Virginia Lottery approached us about developing a Street Fighter einstant, we did not hesitate in accepting this request.

“It’s particularly gratifying when your lottery partner suggests a unique brand and we’re able to secure the rights. We’re very excited to be collaborating with Virginia Lottery and Capcom, and look forward to delivering a knockout game later this year.”

Following the development of the game, the Virginia Lottery aims to launch the online game in September 2022.

Rob Wesley, Deputy Executive Director of Lottery at Virginia Lottery, added: “Street Fighter remains hugely popular with a loyal following that first experienced the original games decades ago.

“Given the franchise is celebrating its 35th anniversary, we wanted to use its strong nostalgic brand to help us to hit our acquisition goals and contribute to our continued eInstant sales growth.

“We look forward to seeing strong results when the game goes live in September.”

This comes after the lottery released a new mobile gaming app as it aims to keep up with the rapidly evolving digital gaming environment.
The lottery’s new Executive Director, Kelly Gee, labelled the app as ‘a new experience’ for its players. By utilising a franchise as popular as Street Fighter II, the lottery will hope to boost the revenue figures of the new venture.
