Groupe FDJ has signed a three-year contract extension with French football giants Olympique de Marseille (OM) to continue its entertainment and exclusive content deal.
The news comes shortly after FDJ’s new agreement with Ligue 1 rivals Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who made the French National Lottery operator one of the club’s premium partners last week.
Like OM, PSG agreed a three-year contract, and FDJ now maintain partnerships with France’s top two sides last season, both of whom will be competing in the 2022-23 Champions League.
OM matches are, each season, among the most wagered by FDJ bettors. In 2021, FDJ’s sports betting offer brought together €4.2bn in stakes, an increase of 19.2% year-on-year.
FDJ explained its brand ParionsSport en ligne (online) will ‘continue to offer some of the most competitive odds on the market on Olympique de Marseille matches as well as numerous opportunities to win match tickets’.
Meanwhile, ParionsSport point de vente (point of sales) will ‘bring the partnership to life’ in the 28,000 partner businesses that provide its sports betting offer.
Pertinently, ParionsSport will develop a device that allows adult spectators to bet directly within OM’s famous Orange (Stade) Velodrome stadium.
“We are particularly happy and proud of the continuation of our partnership with Olympique de Marseille,” said Richard Courtois, CEO of the sports betting unit for FDJ. “Proud of the proximity that this partnership offers us with one of the largest communities of supporters in France.
“[We are] also proud to share the values of sport with this historic club in our championship.”
The continuation of this partnership will also allow ParionsSport to be visible on OM player jerseys as well as in the stadium and the Robert Louis-Dreyfus training centre.
FDJ’s two brands will also benefit from visibility on the club’s digital platforms and social networks.
Pedro Iriondo, Managing Director of Strategy and Development of OM, added: “Olympique de Marseille is delighted to continue the adventure with the FDJ group and its sports betting brands for the next three seasons.
“This extension confirms and strengthens the privileged relationship that unites the FDJ group, our club and our supporters.
“We can’t wait to start this new season together, and to continue to activate this partnership, always focused on themes dear to our two entities: awareness and prevention around the game.”
The ParionsSport online and ParionsSport point of sale brands will be displayed from today (July 13) for the first of five pre-season games, before the resumption of the Ligue 1 campaign in early August. OM’s first competitive fixture arrives on August 7 as they host Reims at home.
Actions to raise awareness of the integrity of sport and a policy for the prevention of excessive gambling and underage gambling will also be offered by FDJ to Marseille supporters and the general public.
