Svenska Spel has helped to fund the launch of a Swedish women’s national esports team specialising in CS:GO. The National Lottery operator is the main sponsor of the Swedish E-sports Association which is leading the launch of the new team.

The lottery operator has been a key sponsor of the Swedish E-sports Association since 2018 and has overseen the creation of two national e-sports teams.

“It feels incredibly exciting and rewarding that today we can present the first and thus historic women’s national team in CS: GO,” stated Jimmy Sandberg, Sponsorship Project Manager at Svenska Spel.

“Svenska Spel is Sweden’s largest sports sponsor and we work for a sports movement that is both equal and equal.”

The team will be lead by captain Tilde “7licious” Byström, and will feature other women players including Johanna “Monky” Nilsson, Jennica “Jenkon” Sjögren, Matilda “Millz” Bjurström, Leyla “Noccaan” Basoda and Alexandra “Twisted” Fredriksson.

Both the Swedish E-sports Association and Svenska Spel have set the aim of becoming one of the best teams in the world.

Sammi Kaidi, Interim Chairman of the Swedish E-sports Association, added: “Swedish esports today takes a real and important step forward, we at Svenska Spel are happy to be part of that journey.”

“At the Swedish E-track Association, we have been working for several years to make esports available to more people. Being able to now present the first women’s national team in CS:GO feels like an obvious next step.”
