Third-party lottery app Mido Lotto has entered into a partnership with Oakland Roots SC, becoming the official lottery-app partner of the USL Championship outfit.

Under the provisions of the agreement, Mido Lotto will provide Oakland Roots fans with ‘perks’ and ‘marketing support’, with the lottery firm becoming the title sponsor for the club’s Teacher and Student Appreciation Night match against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks on April 30 at Laney College in Oakland.

“We’re thrilled to be an official partner with Oakland Roots, which prioritizes using the power of sport as a force for social good in its community and beyond,” said Rich Wheeler, President of Lottery Now, the startup behind Mido Lotto.

“Their support of Californian youth closely aligns with our own mission of supporting state Lotteries’ tremendous giveback initiatives. Since we attract mobile customers who typically don’t play the Lottery the way it’s currently offered, it means our users increase contributions from ticket sales that support California’s public education.”

Mido Lotto has a presence with ‘community-focused’ clubs within its operational states, previously enjoying partnerships with Fresno Grizzlies, the Single-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, and El Paso Locomotive FC, also of the USL Championship league.

“We prioritize finding partners that are aligned with our Club values,” added Steven Powell, Chief Revenue Officer of Oakland Roots. “Once we connected with Mido Lotto, we quickly established that their organizational values aligned with ours. Mido Lotto Lottery proceeds benefit teachers, students and schools, which is where we saw the biggest natural fit with our mission.”
