Mkodo, a Pollard Banknote company, has published a blog exploring ways for lottery and betting companies to improve customer feedback and rank higher on app stores.
According to mkodo, 90% of users place the utmost importance on star reviews when deciding whether to download an app.
Therefore, having a working, reliable and engaging app is essential for attracting more users and having a strong digital presence.
Mkodo recommends four key parts of its methodology to improve a lottery-based app and increase the star rating on app stores: updates; marketing; accessibility; and investing in ‘best of breed’.
Updating apps is recommended because it removes any bugs or faults from the system which would otherwise put users off using the app again.
Marketing the apps ensures that good feedback from the app is seen in places that can attract more new customers. Mkodo claims that 53% of people check ratings and reviews of apps before downloading, so asking users for feedback is key to attracting new consumers.
Mkodo noted that users primarily praise apps that are accessible, easy to use and operate quickly. Building an app which provides users with an easy way to purchase lottery tickets and check results quickly and without hassle is an effective way of improving a lottery app’s star rating.
The firm also shared that they updated Western Canada Lottery Corporation’s (WCLC) mobile app, which previously had a 2.5 star rating on the app store.
After brainstorming and working on the technical aspects of the app, mkodo and WCLC launched the app with a rebrand – Lotto Spot. After implementing mkodo’s four steps, the app’s star rating improved from 2.5 to 4.5 within one year, the firm says.
The Manager of Digital Assets of WCLC told mkodo’s blog: “We are delighted to see such positive reviews of our Lotto Spot! app since its launch last year.
“mkodo’s expertise and knowledge in creating best-in-breed apps has proven results, and our collaboration with them has seen a fantastic increase in positive player feedback.
“Our players are engaged and enjoy using the app, and we have seen a 20% increase in app downloads since its launch. We look forward to leveraging mkodo’s experience further so we can continue to entertain our players.”
