Sky Betting and Gaming has told Lottery Daily that it is closing its Sky Lotto service as it ‘no longer provided customers with a distinct point of difference,’ in comparison to the company’s wider product offering.

Sky Lotto hosted the final draws of its Daily Lotto and Super Lotto products on February 11 and February 12 respectively.

The Sky Lotto website will remain active for customers to redeem any prizes won and access any funds until March 1. From this date, access to the website will not be possible.

Following the website’s closure in March, customers will still be able to access their accounts and any funds using their Sky Lotto login details at Sky Bet, Sky Vegas, Sky Casino, Sky Poker or Sky Bingo.

A Sky Betting and Gaming spokesperson outlined the rationale behind the decision, saying: “We recognised that as a natural result of our continuous innovation and development across our wider product offering, Sky Lotto no longer provided customers with a distinct point of difference.

“Therefore, we took the strategic decision to remove it as a product and instead focus on investing in our other products to ensure they continue to engage and delight our customers.”

The spokesperson also clarified that the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t play a role in Sky Lotto shutting down and that the closure will not cause any changes to Sky Betting and Gaming with the company continuing to operate as normal.
