Scientific Games Corporation has added TV game show brand ‘Supermarket Sweep’ to its licensed properties portfolio for lottery retail and digital games.

The company will bring Supermarket Sweep branded games to US and Canadian lottery players through its partnership with licensor Fremantle.

The iconic TV game show joins ‘Let’s Make A Deal’ and other Fremantle brands such as ‘The Price Is Right’, ‘Family Feud’, and ‘Press Your Luck’ in Scientific Games’ licensed properties portfolio.

Liz Johnson, Director of Lottery Licensed Properties, said: “As part of our strategic value to lottery customers, we actively monitor what’s going on in the world around us to identify popular, relevant brands for lottery games.

“What excites us most about Supermarket Sweep is that it’s a classic TV game show that ABC brought back from the 1960s, and it is now a continued success. This is a fantastic brand for our multifaceted lottery retail and digital programs with some unique promotional opportunities. We believe it will resonate and be a hit with players.”

Supermarket Sweep initially ran on ABC from 1965 to 1967 and has since become a global sensation broadcast in more than a dozen countries worldwide.

The TV game show follows three teams of two players as they battle it out using their grocery store shopping skills and knowledge of merchandise to win big cash prizes.

Supermarket Sweep made its return to ABC on October 18, 2020, where it ranked as the network’s highest-rated Sunday night series this season in adults 18-49.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Scientific Games will continue to power retail and online sales for the North Dakota Lottery through a two-year extension of its systems technology contract scheduled to run until June 2024.

Back in January, the company appointed Jim Bombassei as Senior Vice President of Investor Relations, and it also promoted Simon Johnson to Senior Vice President and Managing Director EMEA.
