Gambling technology company Playtech has announced a new licencing agreement with International Game Technology (IGT).

Shimon Akad, Chief Operating Officer at Playtech, said: “The agreement with IGT represents another significant milestone in the growth of our presence in North America as we build on the momentum of the past few months.

“We look forward to offering the US market more of our market-leading software and technology in what is a rapidly growing US market.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Playtech is able to offer games in the United States that include any of the features patented within IGT’s extensive US patent portfolio. IGT is the holder of the largest portfolio of slot game feature patents in the US.

The deal represents a significant step in Playtech’s expansion into North America after being awarded a licence in New Jersey.

Having already gone live with bet365 and across BetMGM’s gaming network earlier this year, the IGT agreement demonstrates Playtech’s goal to partner with leading companies and leverage its scale to increase its distribution capabilities in North America.

Nick Khin, Chief Operating Officer at IGT, added: “We are delighted to have reached an agreement to provide Playtech with access to the largest game feature patent portfolio in the US.

“Working in partnership with Playtech will help propel our collective innovation and growth, and further validates our significant IP portfolio.”

Earlier this month, Playtech signed two new supplier agreements with Norsk Tipping for online casino and Video Lottery Terminals (VLT) products.
