The Governor of Río Negro, Arabela Carreras, has appointed Jorge Antonio Manzo as the new President of the Lotería de Río Negro. The lawyer will replace Luis Ayestarán, who announced his resignation earlier this week after five years as head of the Argentinian province’s gaming regulator.

Carreras signed on Tuesday the decree that designates Manzo as the new authority of the local lottery. This appointment comes just one day after Ayestarán’s resignation, who according to local media, had decided to step down due to differences with the Governor.

However, even though it is believed Manzo was appointed because of his good relationship with Carreras, Ayestarán had assured his resignation was “a personal decision, based on the need to face new professional challenges.”

In a letter sent to the Governor, Ayestarán said: “The future president of the lottery will find a modern entity with national and international recognition, with quality certifications, cutting-edge technology and a strategic plan in place for the next four years.”

Manzo has experience in Río Negro’s public sector as he has served as legal advisor to the provincial Ministry of Economy between 1991 and 1992, and as an advisor to the General Legal Advisory Office of the Rio Negro Police HQs until 2018.

In the private sector, he has also been an advisor and representative of different companies, unions and work risk insurance companies. He was also the president of the Viedma Bar Association and a member of the Small Council of the Magistracy and the Great Council.
