Svenska Spel has confirmed the appointment of Erika Svanström as its new Group Head of Public Affairs, leading the management of its corporate relationships with all national stakeholders.

Svanström, who is set to join the Swedish state-owned gambling operator’s executive management team on November 2, has formally served as a corporate advisor to the operator’s governance through her personal consultancy BridgeMaker PR.

A leading figurehead in Swedish public affairs, she is the former Chief Communications Officer for Sveriges Åkeriföretag, the country’s transport association, representing a membership of 6,000 companies.

Svanström has also served as a senior policy advisor for Sweden’s Christian Democrats Party, representing the political party at EU Committees and on foreign affairs assignments.

Joakim Mörnefält, Svenska Spel’s Communications Director, confirmed Svanström’s appointment and stated that the firm’s board aimed to improve its stakeholder management as Sweden’s gambling market readjusts following its re-regulation in 2019.
