Caixa Econômica Federal has shared its financial results for the second quarter and first half of the year, a period in which lotteries experienced an 8.2% setback in revenues to $1.3bn.

In the report shared by BNL Data, Caixa detailed that $504m of the revenue from the first six months of the year was sent to a number of Federal Government social programs.

Approximately 37.3% of the total collected by lotteries in Brazil was directed to social security, public security, sports, culture, education and health programs.

Transactions through Caixa’s digital channels recorded 76.3% of the total operations made in the second quarter, while internet banking and mobile banking reached 4.7bn operations in June.

In addition, the federal bank’s liquid income reached the $460m mark in the second quarter, or a 39.3% drop when compared to the same period in 2019, when Caixa registered revenues of $758m.

Earlier this month, the national lottery operator announced the opening of the tender process to find a new online payment provider, which would allow the lottery to offer more options to its clients.

A statement from Caixa indicated that the bank will receive proposals and documentation until September 2, while offers will be presented on September 3. Once the evaluation process is complete, the operator will announce a new online lottery payment service, which is set to include credit card services and online lottery prize payments.
