Vietlott confirms big plans for H2

As reported by iGB, the second half of 2020 will see the Vietnam Lottery Company, Vietlott, launch a pilot programme for SMS-based sales of its products.

The move follows on from promising H1 results which saw growth to VND2.3tn (£78.9m). In fact, with Vietlott products being sold in a majority of the country’s 63 provinces, total sales for the six months up to 30 June were up by 55.2% year-on-year.

From this VND2.3tn total, the group paid out VND1.3tn in winnings – VND600bn from jackpot rewards and VND700bn in other cash prizes.

In addition to its H2 pilot programme launch, the group has also revealed plans for the third quarter in which it aims to launch in Hậu Giang and Yên Bái, taking the total number of provinces in which its products are sold to 61.

As a result, Vietlott would only require approval to launch in Đồng Tháp and Cao Bằng before its games become available for sale in every region of Vietnam.

Alongside its third quarter plans, Vietlott is also set to make big strides in Q4 where it is set to expand into digital sales, partnering mobile network operators Vinaphone, Mobifone and Viettel.

Although still subject to approval by the country’s Ministry of Finance, this expansion is predicted to generate sales of more than VND4.0tn, which in turn will see its contribution to the state rise to VND1.2tn.
