Norway’s state operator, Norsk Tipping, has retained its premier sponsorship of the country’s football sector through 2029.

Dedicated to advancing the opportunities within Norwegian football, Norsk Tipping has been a continuous contributor to the cause since 1948 – making it the one of the most long-standing partnerships in Norwegian sports.

The operator has now re-signed an agreement with the Norwegian Football Association (NFF) – the governing football body, Norsk Toppfotball (NTF) – the biggest body representing football clubs, and Toppfotball Kvinner (TFK) – responsible for the development of professional women’s football.

Vegar Strand, Chief Executive Officer of Norsk Tipping, commented: “We are proud to continue as general partner for the Norwegian Football Association in the period 2026–2029.

“Norsk Tipping has a long and strong relationship with Norwegian football, and we look forward to contributing to both big moments at the top level and the important work that happens every single day in clubs across the country.

“Football brings Norway together – from the everyday efforts in the clubs, to the biggest moments, such as the Champions League final for women at Ullevaal in May and the men’s World Cup the following month. It means a lot to us to be part of this.”

Naturally, the partnership was also welcomed by Karl-Petter Løken, Secretary General of the NFF, who made sure to highlight the value that Norsk Tipping has added to Norwegian football over the years.

“Norsk Tipping has been a very important partner for us for many, many years and we are of course very happy and proud that the collaboration continues,” he said.

“Norsk Tipping’s involvement in football and the collaboration with us has been absolutely crucial for the activity we see in Norwegian football today, including through the betting facilities, which have contributed to facilities that make football a mainstay in local communities across Norway. We really look forward to the continuation and a great collaboration in the years to come.”

With the target funding over the four years being NOK 60m (£4.7m), the agreement will prioritise several areas for improvement which the parties will work together to address.

These include strengthening the national football teams, launching recruitment initiatives across the country, devising community projects for the public, and creating digital strategies to elevate Norwegian football even further.

Jens Haugland, CEO of NTF, added: “The collaboration with Norsk Tipping enables us to lift both the Eliteserien product and the clubs that run it. We look forward to developing new projects that create more engagement, better match experiences and stronger profiles.”

This partnership will certainly be a huge net positive for Norsk Tipping and its image in the eyes of the public.

The operator has recently found itself in heaps of trouble with Lottstift, Norway’s regulator, over a long list of failures and gambling breaches, which has arguably diminished its credibility among consumers. Community-focused initiatives like this one will be invaluable in building that trust back up.
