The North Dakota Lottery has completed an upgrade of its omnichannel platform in partnership with B2B gaming technology firm Scientific Games.

The Atlanta-headquartered company has upgraded the lottery’s central gaming system and equipped it with its iLottery technology, focusing on retail and online platforms.

Scientific Games has been working with the North Dakota Lottery for many years now, but the duo’s attention has increasingly focused on the omnichannel side of things in recent years.

Lotteries in the US remain predominantly retail enterprises, but with the digitisation of the sector and the wider gaming industry in general, more and more are looking to strengthen their online pedigree.

Thomas Lawler, Director of the North Dakota Lottery, said: “We are committed to making the North Dakota Lottery relevant for generations to come and by doing so we achieve our mission to benefit programs meant to improve the quality of life in our state.

“This omnichannel technology upgrade with our longtime partner Scientific Games is an important step in achieving that goal, so we can continue to bring modern, engaging experiences to our players and provide support to retailers that sell our games.”

The development is another boost for Scientific Games as the company retains its position as one of the biggest B2B companies in the US lottery space, competing against the likes of Pollard Banknote and Brightstar.

The firm continues to find partners beyond US borders too, however, such as with the New Zealand Lotto and Canada’s Loto-Québec.

Michael Cardell, Senior VP of Americas Systems at Scientific Games, said: “We commend the North Dakota Lottery on its forward-thinking, omnichannel vision and decision to power that strategy with Scientific Games’ advanced technology.

“We look forward to building on our long-standing partnership to drive continuous innovation and success for the citizens of North Dakota.”
