IGT informs of the passing of CEO Global Lotteries unit

The board of IGT Plc has informed the media and stakeholders of the sudden passing of Fabio Cairoli, Chief Executive of the firm’s Global Lottery unit.

A figurehead in the global lottery industry, Cairoli’s passing has profoundly impacted both his colleagues and competitors in the field.

The CEO of IGT PLC’s Global Lottery division, Cairoli was recognised for his passion, drive, and dedication to innovation and results.

Prior to leading IGT’s Global Lottery division, Cairoli served as the Chief Executive Officer for the company’s operations in Italy. Here, he was tasked with overseeing all business lines, marketing services, and sales.

Cairoli’s dedication to his role was evident as he consistently strove for excellence, bringing a unique blend of strategic insight, operational experience, and leadership acumen to the company.

Cairoli’s involvement in the lottery industry was not limited to his tenure at IGT. He originally joined Lottomatica Group S.p.A., the predecessor to IGT, in 2012 as the Senior Vice President of Business. His career was characterized by his consistent commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of the industry.

Executive Chairman Marco Sala emphasized Cairoli’s widespread influence and the personal relationships he held within the industry.

“While these operations remain in very capable and experienced hands, we recognize that many in the lottery industry also held personal relationships with Fabio, and that he was a greatly respected friend within and beyond the industry,” Sala said.

“At this time, IGT extends its deepest condolences to Fabio Cairoli’s family, as we dedicate our efforts to supporting their needs during this difficult time.”

IGT’s corporate governance now faces the task of filling the leadership vacuum left by Cairoli’s untimely passing, while still paying homage to the work and progress made under his tenure.
