The national lottery of Slovakia, TIPOS, has announced it has signed a five-year extension to its agreement with the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOSV) to support its athletes.

TIPOS has been in a partnership with SOSV for the past ten years and has helped to support athletes throughout the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, as well as the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics.

As a result of the extension, the partners will continue to emphasise the comprehensive support of sports activities, including the training of Slovakian Olympians, as well as activities and projects of secondary schools aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle towards school children.

Anton Siekel, President of SOŠV, stated: “Together with our long-term partner, we want to continue to support top athletes to successfully represent us at the Olympic Games. At the same time, however, we want to develop and improve the sports environment in the Slovak Republic. We would like to bring people even closer to a healthy lifestyle, of which sport is an integral part. Exercise and a healthy lifestyle should be a natural part of the day in every family.”

Following the long-term extension of the partnership, usually renewed annually, TIPOS has committed itself to supporting and funding the Slovakian Olympic team through the 2022 Winter Olympics and the 2024 Olympic Games.

Marek Kaňka, CEO and Chairman of the Board of TIPOS, commented: “Until now, we have always extended the contract only on an annual basis, now we want to do so for up to five years. We believe that our commitment will clearly state that TIPOS is behind Slovak sport. At the same time, we see this as a more suitable solution for the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee itself, because it will feel more confident in planning its projects and activities.”
