Poland’s National Lottery operator Totalizator Sportowy has declared that its sales increased in 2020 by over half of what it accomplished the previous year. It also set new records in money contributed to good causes.

The operator reported that its 2020 sales amounted to 15.38bn złotych, an increase of 64.3% on 2019’s figures (9.89bn złotych).

From this total, it managed to once more donate over 1.10bn złotych in subsidies to Poland’s sport and cultural activities, its highest amount ever.

Totalizator Sportowy stated: “Polish sport and national culture received more money than in 2019.

“Thanks are due to Lotto players, without whom there would be no increase in sales, and thus more funds going to the special purpose funds accounts.”

The operator announced that of the 1.10bn złotych, 827.5m złotych went towards sport while 220.7m złotych was given to cultural activities.

With these subsidies, the operator’s total 2020 revenue came to 16.48bn złotych, up 66.6% from the previous year (2019: 10.99bn złotych).

Totalizator Sportowy also noted that it paid 1.18bn złotych in gaming taxes (2019: 1.08bn złotych). In total, revenues to the state budget in 2020 due to subsidies and tax on games amounted to 2.29bn złotych.

In 2020, the operator introduced a live casino product and opened over 350 new slot machine arcades, becoming the largest legal operator of slot machine games in Poland with 520.

In November last year, IGT signed a long-term contract with Totalizator Sportowy to provide the lottery with technology products and services.
