María Nélida Acuña Segovia has been presented as the new Executive General Director of the Lotería Nacional de Beneficencia y Salubridad (Lonabol) of Bolivia, the national lottery. The new authority has more than 15 years of experience in the public sector of the South American country.

Acuña Segovia highlighted that ‘it’s time for an update in accordance to the new digital and technological era that we are living in this world’. To achieve this, she said that they will ‘aim to generate more sources of employment and greater economic income for the state.’

As detailed by the Ibero-American Corporation of State Lotteries (Cibelae), Acuña Segovia is Business Administrator specialized in public management, with experience in both the public and private sector.

Acuña Segovia said: “We will work tirelessly with great effort and efficiency, with ethics and transparency, to serve society’s most vulnerable sectors. We’ll make Lonabol an institution that restores hope and faith to all Bolivians.”

The Deputy Minister of Promotion, Epidemiological Surveillance and Traditional Medicine María René Castro, who took Acuña Segovia’s oath, added: “The Lotería’s main engine is noble causes to benefit Bolivia’s underprivileged population with donations, as well as help in the social area.

“[Acuña Segovia] assumes the challenge of directing an institution with high responsibility and social commitment. We work for the Bolivian people. We congratulate her on behalf of the Ministry of Health.”
