Luis Ayestarán has resigned from his office as the President of the Lotería de Río Negro after five years, explaining in a letter sent to the Governor of the Argentinian province Arabela Carreras that his resignation is “irrevocable.”

Ayestarán said in his letter: “The future president of the lottery will find a modern entity with national and international recognition, with quality certifications, cutting-edge technology and a strategic plan in place for the next four years.”

The now former president thanked Senator Alberto Weretilneck for the “trust and unconditional support that allowed me, together with a valuable team of men and women, to transform the Lotería forever.”

Despite different reports from local media indicating that his relationship with the provincial authorities wasn’t good, Ayestarán assured that “this was a personal decision, based on the need to face new professional challenges.”

Last week, the lottery signed the concession agreement for the Bariloche, Jacobacci and El Bolsón betting rooms with Patagonia Casino Club, which will be in charge for the next 20 years, the last administrative decision headed by Ayestarán.

By mid-November, Casino Club will begin operating the three rooms, although they must obtain permission from the health authorities beforehand in order to be able to reopen. In addition, they will have two years to contribute the $4.2m that the company promised before signing the concession to invest in the local bus terminal.
