El Salvador’s national lottery signs deal to modernize its offering

The President of El Salvador’s Lotería Nacional de Beneficencia (LNB) has denied reports which state that the concession of its operations has been awarded to an Israeli company for the next 20 years, stating “it’s just an agreement to modernize operations.”

The reports indicated that the Israeli group Tenlot would be in charge of the operations for the next 20 years, however, speaking with SBC Noticias, the President of the LNB, Javier Milián, explained: “It’s an agreement for the next 10 years, with the possibility to extend the deal for another 10 years, to modernize the existing offering.”

“The LNB is not being concessioned. We’re looking for support from international companies to operate new games,” he said. “In this case, Tenlot will co-manage online games and sports betting predictions. The LNB will continue operating the traditional games.”

Local media had reported that the agreement was signed for 20 years and for the full operations of the LNB, but Milián assured that the national lottery will continue in the hands of the El Salvador government.

The Israeli group, led by CEO Yossi Abadi, is a global lottery and gambling operator. In Latin America, it operates the Guatemalan lottery and, exclusively, the Costa Rican bingo games.

The LNB currently has 100 kiosks and 1,300 registered vendors to distribute its lottery tickets.
