The Costa Rican Social Protection Board (JPS) has announced that lottery and ‘chance’ tickets will be available online with the aim of attracting more people during the lockdown.

Costa Rica will start selling the tickets through a digital platform next Monday, with the Father’s Day draw being the first one available. According to Periódico Mensaje, the National and Popular lottery tickets will also be offered on this platform.

In a previous interview with Lottery Daily, Esmeralda Britton, president of the Board of Directors of the JPS, said that the entity is promoting and boosting the use of new technologies and payment methods to reduce the use of physical currencies to adapt to this new reality.

In order to buy the tickets, players need to access jpsenlinea.com or the official JPS website and select the option “Buy online”. Then, they must choose the available numbers and the amount they want to bet.

In addition, customers will be able to pay by credit or debit cards, and they will receive a confirmation on their emails. Players with winning numbers will be notified through electronic channels.

Once operations return to their usual schedule, the JPS will analyze which plans can be implemented to serve those players who have changed their preferences during the pandemic once the platform is live. Then, they will learn from consumer behavior and preferences, to adjust them to the market needs.

“The JPS hopes that commercialization gets stronger so vendors can generate income again.”
