The Louisiana Lottery Corporation has revealed that despite the ongoing impact of COVID-19 it has registered $9.3m in lottery ticket sales for the month of May, with the organisation also unveiling that $22m had been won on scratch-offs. 

May’s draw-style winnings were claimed on games such as Powerball, 45 Powerball, Mega Millions and 33 Mega Millions as well as a Lotto jackpot success which saw one player claim a prize worth $975,000.

In addition to this, 88 players won Lotto match-5 prizes totaling $196,210, thus bringing the total monthly Lotto winnings to roughly $1.5m. Pick 3 winning tickets totaled $3.2m and Pick 4 winning tickets totaled $2.8m

The lottery corporation also revealed that there were five Easy 5 jackpot-winning tickets totaling $285,455. This brought the game’s monthly total winnings to $433,596 with an additional $144,042 won on ezmatch, an instant-win option available for an additional $1.

Lottery President Rose Hudson stated: “More than 25,000 Power Play purchasers won an extra $254,195 in addition to their regular Powerball prizes. Also, more than 24,000 Megaplier purchasers won a bonus total of $193,384 in addition to their regular Mega Millions prizes.” 

Regarding the $22m worth of May scratch-off cash prizes, players now have 90 days from the official game closure date to redeem a winning ticket.

In the case of draw-style game winners, players now have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the winnings from those tickets.

In response to COVID-19, prizes that were set to expire during March 24 – May 17 have been extended to August 17, with lottery claims offices now open to the public on an appointment basis.
