Ecuador’s national lottery to resume draws this week

The Lotería Nacional from Ecuador has revealed that its 22 raffles that were interrupted by the health crisis will resume on Friday with an official statement announcing that the draws will be held in front of a notary public with results set to be published on the lottery’s website.

The Lottery also announced that it will cancel 115 draws in which tickets could not be sold due to the state of emergency in Ecuador. Prizes for the 22 deferred draws and those that expired between March 17 and June 16 will be paid until September 7, as a one-time exception.

The Pozo Millonario will restart on July 5 alongside the Lotto with July 6 being marked as the return date of the Lottery as well as all Raspaditas. All products will be sold at “Puntos de la Suerte” (points of sale) and online.

Earlier this week, Roberto Tugendhat, executive director of the Guayaquil Charity Board, which supervises the lottery, commented that they have been affected by the lack of income due to the shut down of different businesses. However, he said that they have been able to normalise their operations and have not been affected by interruptions.

“The lottery is our financial arm to do the charity work, but we all have to come out of this crisis together as a team,” he added.

“The Board has never stopped working, despite the act that the Ministry of Public Health and the IESS haven’t paid us everything they should have and that we’re facing financial difficulties,” he concluded.
