Quebec set to reopen lottery terminals

A report published by the Canadian Press has revealed that following its shutdown as a result of the rapid spread of the COVID-19 outbreak across the globe, Quebec’s lottery corporation is set to be reopening a selection of its lottery terminals this week.

Having announced a suspension to its sales of lottery products at retailers and in kiosks on 20 March, Loto-Quebec also disconnected its networks of sales terminals and moved its operations online in an effort to combat the pandemic and keep its customers safe.

At the time of writing however, and with the virus somewhat in a more controlled state as a result of the worldwide lockdown, the Crown corporation has revealed it will reopen sales terminals and resume lottery ticket sales at retailers that have an outdoor entrance.

Due to the reopening specifically targeting retailers with an outdoor entrance, sales at establishments located within shopping centres, including kiosks, are set to remain suspended until further notice.

This comes despite the province announcing a gradual opening of retail stores due to the fact that shopping malls will so far be remaining shut.

With this being said, Quebec has reiterated its aim to reopen all retail stores in Montreal including in the greater Montreal region by May 11.
