GLMS, the Global Lottery Monitoring System, has welcomed Germany’s Oddset Sportwetten, which becomes the association’s fourth Associate Member.

The state-owned Oddset Sportwetten provides sport betting across the retail networks of several state lotteries in Germany and with seven such lotteries holding shares in the company.

Welcoming Oddset, GLMS president Ludovico Calvi said in a statement: “I am delighted to welcome Oddset within the GLMS family.

“With the recent regulatory evolution, the largest market in Europe will now take further steps towards a full deregulation of the gaming market. Sports betting will definitely lead the way in Germany and Oddset will play an important role in the promotion of transparent and socially responsible gaming operations.

“We look forward to having Oddset on board and working closely with them with the objective of protecting our core values and acting as a shield against global sport corruption.”

As an Associate Member, Oddset will receive summaries of GLMS global alerts and gains access to education and prevention tools, as well as to the global GLMS information network and sponsorship and communication opportunities at GLMS events.

Christof Schoepfel, CEO of Oddset Sportwetten, added: “We are pleased to make an active contribution to the global lottery monitoring system and also to benefit from the professional services which GLMS provides to the members.

As a responsible sports betting provider, owned by and co-operating closely with lottery companies, we feel very committed to the goals of GLMS. Every sports betting offer should go hand-in-hand with the overarching goal of maintaining the integrity of the sport, because only a fair sporting event offers our customers the pleasure of betting. Therefore, we regard it as our duty to support GLMS in the best possible way.”
