Lottery Centre breaches leads
to UKGC suspension

Effective immediately, the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has suspended the online betting and casino licenses of The Lottery Centre due to the operator breaching Commission’s AML and social responsibility protocols.

As a result, the Isle of Man-based International Multi-Media Entertainments Ltd, which trades via the Lotteries.com domain, has become the fourth online operator to have its licensed suspended by the regulator in the last five weeks.

A statement released by the UKGC read: “The Gambling Commission has undertaken a Licence review under s116 of the Gambling Act 2005 into International Multi-Media Entertainments Limited, trading as Lotteries.com.

“Pursuant to section 118(2) of the Act, the Commission has determined to suspend the above operating licence insofar as it pertains to the operator’s ability to offer remote facilities for Remote casino and remote general betting standard (real event).

“The suspension is due to anti-money laundering practices and ongoing social responsibility concerns we have with the operator.

“We have instructed the operator to ensure that it facilitates customers’ accessing their accounts to withdraw any funds and we remain in contact with them regarding the need for clear and updated messaging for consumers.”

Lotteries.com offers instant win products and betting on international lottery draws such as America’s Powerball and Mega Millions as well as the Euro Millions and lotteries from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland and Spain.

The operator is yet to publicly comment on the license suspension, however, prior to the suspension notice the operator had planned to roll out a new platform as well as a ‘number of exciting developments’. It is as yet unclear as to how the suspension will affect this new role out.

Multi-Media Entertainments now joins the likes of Stakers Ltd, Addison Global Ltd, as well as its MoPlay brand, and Triple Ltd in having its license suspended by the UKGC.
